I call these hanging ornaments "Squishies", since it nicely describes how they're made: by taking molten glass while it has a taffy-like consistency and "squishing" it onto metal plates that have upraised designs on them. After the glass has picked up the pattern I add a curve or two to the entire piece and a loop for hanging it by, and then lett it slowly cool in a special glassblowing kiln for the next twenty-four hours. The finished piece makes any light that hits it do all sorts of neat things, reflecting it, casting colourful shadows - all in all looking just plain snazzy. They're neat little pieces, and are one of the few things I make that I use anything but my own hands.
This item here is a gift box made up of four Squishies randomly selected from those I've recently made. The boxes are made up with asthetics in mind, making sure that the colours and sizes of the Squishies combine to make a beautiful gift to yourself or another.
The dimensions of the box are:
Length: 19cm (7.5")
Width: 14cm (5.5")
Depth: 4cm (1.55")
Please Note: As each Squishie is handmade in the fires of the hotshop, some variation in colour, size and shape it to be expected.
