This tall glass vase is fully handmade by award winning Canadian glassblower Kelly Lowe of Kelly Lowe Glass in Hamilton Ontario. The foot of the vase is made of clear glass, while the body begins as a light purple, almost a lavender, and gradually shifts tones as your eyes move up the piece to a dark, rich purple at the lip. The shifting purple tones of the piece bring to mind those found in the purple lisianthus: a bold and dramatic flower touched with a hint of delicateness that makes it all the more beautiful.
This vase stands just under twenty centimeters tall (seven and a half inches), nine centimeters wide (three and a half inches), and weighs five hundred and forty grams, or just over nineteen ounces. The vase has been signed on the bottom, out of sight during normal display but as a positive reminder that you've chosen to support the arts and handmade tradition rather than mass manufactured or generic goods.
The vase stands solidly, was made with extremely high quality glass, and was properly annealer cooled over the course of twenty-four hours to ensure the piece is strong and durable. The piece was fully hand blown and sculpted from the moment it was pulled as molten glass from the glassblowing furnace to the moment the finished piece was placed within the gallery: no molds or other such aids were used in its creation.
